Set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, Adlington Hall is one of England's most beautiful country homes, with a history that can be traced back to 1040 when the Legh family of Adlington chose the site for a hunting lodge in the Forest of Macclesfield. The present structure, which dates back to 1315, incorporates both Medieval and Tudor architecture, further wings and rooms having been added down the centuries.
The main elements are the Great Hall (constructed 1480 to 1505), the 'black and white' Tudor manor (1581) and the Georgian South Front and West Wing (built 1749 to 1757). Supported at its east end by two oak trees from the original hunting lodge, the Great Hall is notable both for its breathtaking hammerbeam roof and magnificent 17th century organ, which was played by Handel.

The Great Hall
Equally impressive are the Hall's gardens. Landscaped in the style of Capability Brown in the 18th century, these are truly a delight to behold, with a Lime Avenue planted in 1688, and the splendid folly 'Temple to Diana' with its painted ceiling. More recent additions to the gardens include a maze, rose garden and the beautiful Father Tiber Water Garden.
Further afield, the Adlington Hall Estate extends to some 2,000 acres, incorporating open countryside, woodland, a lake and its own quarry, now one of the best off-road driving courses in the north of England. With its rare combination of qualities, Adlington Hall and the Adlington Hall Estate offer an ideal venue for corporate events, including corporate entertainment, product launches, business meetings, outdoor pursuits or seminars. More information is available on their excellent and comprehensive
