Barford Park Description

Barford Park is quiet and secluded a with lovely Georgian house and its small-scale but perfect landscaping blending with the surrounding farmland. Originally a two-storey farmhouse with Queen Anne front added in 1710 with an additional storey and wings added in 1750. Restoration was begun in 1956 by the present owners, the Stancombs, to a design by Dame Sylvia Crowe.

The park has many fine trees, and is seperated from the gardens by a ha-ha. There is a woodland and water garden with rhododendrons, azaleas, primulas and gunnera, a walled flower garden that almost seems to be an extension of the house and then there are the terrace and lawns complete with a pond with goldfish.
