Crowland Abbey Description

An early 8th century Benedictine Abbey, at one stage of great opulence, the Abbey is reduced to its north aisle, now the parish church, with impressive remains of the great West Front attached. The first church bells to be hung in Britain were at Crowland.

Only a short distance from the Abbey is the unique 3-way stone 14th century Trinity Bridge, which provided a cheap solution to crossing two rivers at their junction with a single structure.
