Gainsborough's House Description
Birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough RA (1727 - 1788), the famous painter, this historic house dates back to the 16th Century and benefits from an attractive walled garden. The outstanding collection, displaying more of his paintings, drawings and prints at any one time than any other gallery, is shown together with eighteenth-century furniture. A varied programme of temporary exhibitions of both historic British and contemporary art is shown throughout the year. There is a gift shop and coffee shop.
