UK Haunted Properties
Whether or not you believe in the spectral is immaterial, the fact is that stately homes and ancient properties present an apparently natural habitat for mysterious and creepy occurrences. From a wonderfully haunted castle in coastal Cumbria to a Huguenot silk weavers' house in Spitalfield, ghosts would appear to be equally at home.
Indeed, their manifestations embrace so many different forms that it would be an unfeeling owner who, given the slightest evidence, would not drop the odd casual hint about, say, the presence in the Long Gallery or the headless coachman sometimes to be met on the Chestnut avenue. In general we enjoy our ghosts.
