Your Reviews of Jarlshof Prehistoric & Norse Settlement
Ian McIntyre (12 July 2006)
Fantastic prehistoric settlement. Well kept, with knowledgeable staff. Magnificent location, and incredible archaeology. Right on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean and about 1/4 mile from the North Sea. Located in the grounds of the Sumbrugh Hotel (Ancient Lairds House) with excellent facilities and attentive staff. Jarlshof is only a short, but steep, walk from Sumbrugh Head (RSPB reserve) some 30 minutes or so away (drivable to just below the lighthouse). Home to colonies of puffins and viewing point for a passing place for whales (of several varieties).
