Manderston is the supreme country house of Edwardian Scotland: the swansong of its era. Manderston, as it is today, is a product of the best craftsmanship and highest domestic sophistication the Edwardian era had to offer and was completely rebuilt between 1903 and 1905.

Your Reviews of Manderston
Jackie Morton (30 September 2012)
My husband and I visited Manderston House near Duns today for the first time and I have to say it is one of the best stately homes I have ever visited. We just fell in love with it. The decor, it's opulence, the silver staircase, the ornate plasterwork ceilings, there is just so much to see and yet it feels so homely and lived in. The house is just awesome well worth a visit. We felt it was good value despite the entrance fee of £9.00. For a private home you can spend an afternoon wandering through the house, which is still used as a home, and then walk into the extensive gardens, which are spectacular. The stables have been converted into a tea room which is basic but provides good coffee and light meals. To top it all, Lord Palmer, the owner just walked through the building when we were there and mixed with the visitors. He was delightful and so openly appreciative that we loved his home. The guides adore him, which says alot. All the guides loved the home, oozing passionately about it's splendour, so knowledgable and friendly. Fantastic place.
