Marble Hill House Description
Marble Hill House is a magnificent Thames-side Palladian villa built 1724–29 for Henrietta Howard, Countess of Suffolk, mistress of King George II, set in 66 acres of parkland. The Great Room has lavish gilded decoration and architectural paintings by Panini.
The house contains an important collection of early Georgian furniture and paintings, and the Lazenby Bequest Chinoiserie collection. There is a display on the ground floor with an introductory film about the house, grounds, and the life and times of Henrietta Howard.
Longitude, starring Jeremy Irons, was filmed there in 1999.
