Penshurst Place and Gardens Description

To find anywhere more beautiful, both in itself and its location, than Penshurst Place could take rather a long time. The house is stunningly beautiful, starting with the medieval Baron’s Hall dating from 1341 with an awesome 60ft high chestnut-beamed roof, and moving on up the centuries. For those who like their stone mullion windows on a high scale this is the place to be.

As a location for weddings or civil partnerships Penshurst could well be the award-winning location that steals a march on all the others. The house has three banqueting rooms of immense presence. Catering is done by Leiths - who else?

All told Penshurst is a place where time may have moved slowly over the centuries but it certainly makes up for it now with its ample provision for so many contemporary needs and pastimes.

Despite all this the house remains a family home, with great involvement on their part.

• Garden Tea Room: 10.30 am - 5 pm or until Gardens close if earlier
