I visited Highclere Castle for 'Heroes at Highclere'. And what a Fabulous Time I had, The Castle is so beautiful and full of character and the grounds superb, The Cafe is well catered with China cups and saucers and real cutlery not the polystyrene cups and plastic knives/forks that you get catered with everywhere else, I had a really enjoyable tea with delicious cream and jam scones, in the most tranquil of surroundings. I will definitely return, well worth the visit!

We went to Highclere yesterday (Saturday 15th October 2011) and were amazed by the number of people queuing to get in to the grounds. They came in their thousands to the extent that they were turned away as the castle could not cope with the sheer volume of people. We were very lucky as we managed to get to the ticket office just as they were announcing the castle's closure so we gambled and paid for tickets anyway managing to eventually get inside. We were so glad as we had travelled all the way from Lancashire. Please pre-book your tickets if you are travelling from afar as due to its current popularity because of Downton Abbey you may not get in. Be warned! It was well worth the wait though and a very beautiful building and home. A great day out in the end with beautiful weather too. Result!

I visited Highclere last Wednesday and it superb and the setting was stunningly beautiful. The guides, restaurant staff etc. were all exceptionally pleasant and helpful. However, I do feel that the restaurant was totally inadequate for the numbers endeavouring to use it - in fact if you chose a hot meal, it was cold by the time you got a seat.
And the queues for the ladies' toilets were something - if you had been told about the length of delay to actually get your foot inside the outer door, you would have thought it was a total exaggeration, but not so. If the Castle is to continue as an attraction for the public, serious thought and consideration must be given to the limited restaurant facilities and the number of available toilets must be increased.

I grew up in Highclere so I have always known about The Castle and its history. On several occasions I have visited the castle. It really is a beautiful building with a fascinating history. The grounds alone are worth a visit no matter what time of year it is. The drive through Highclere Park to the castle gives you a real feel of the place, and I would say to anyone visiting this area that Highclere and its Castle are a must.

I have visited the castle several times. The interior is worth visiting, and the grounds are beautiful all year round. They also do lovely cream teas. When the castle has craft fairs I always try to go as they are always worth a visit. As a child I was lucky enough to live in Highclere so I grew up learning the castle history. I would thoroughly recommend visiting the castle and also Highclere Church.

On behalf of the Dragon School, I would like to thank the three lady guides who inspired pupils to become even more involved in their study of the Ancient Egyptians. They had a wonderful time exploring the grounds and the house, and discussing the super artefacts in the museum. Thank you.

Beautiful characterful house, lovely restful gardens with stunning natural surroundings & views. Last year we hosted our daughter's 7th birthday party in the grounds & the staff couldn't have been more helpful & accommodating. They provided us with seating & tables in a relatively private area, bins & somewhere to go if it rained. The gentleman on the gate even directed drivers to the party. Good old fashioned service. The shop is interesting too, you can buy books & quality mementos relating to Lord Carnarvon, Highclere & Tutankhamen.
