Your Reviews of Rycote Chapel

Richard Quartermaine (14 June 2014)

My great-grandfather, Thomas Quartermaine married Elizabeth Chown at Sydenham Church, Oxfordshire. My grandfather was born in Lewkner, Oxfordshire. I have just come across this website and have not yet had the opportunity to clarify from my papers dates and places within oxfordshire but will do so. Carol Boman, whose notes are above, is relative and I was pleased to see her and her husband in Katoomba, NSW in 1989. Rita Trafford also followed up on a visit I made to Rycote Chapel in the 1970s by spending some time as our guest here in the mid 1990s. I have photos and slides of Rycote Chapel and of course that ancient yew tree within the grounds.

Carol Boman (28 April 2014)

This is a message mainly for Jackie Baldwin, whom, like myself I see, has the maiden name QUARTERMAINE. I too, visited Rycote Chapel in the 1980's and the lady in question in the kiosk was Rita Trafford, who had actually done a huge history project on the Quartermaines and through her, I contacted the son of my mother's cousin who had emigrated to Australia after World War I. My husband and I visited Australia in 1989 and actually met one Richard Quartermaine, who lived in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. What happened to Rita and her vast notes I do not know. This message was left on 28 April 2014.
