Burton Constable Hall & Grounds

Burton Constable,
HU11 4LN

In celebration of the Festival of Archaeology, we will be offering guided tours of the historic grounds and parkland at Burton Constable.
The historic parkland at Burton Constable is one of the best documented examples of a landscape worked by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. Prior to the construction of the Hall and creation of surrounding deer park, the site was a medieval village consisting of 15 cottages, a windmill and dovecote. This area is now preserved as a Scheduled Ancient Monument in order to protect the surviving ridge and furrow.

In celebration of the Festival of Archaeology, Burton Constable has teamed up with East Riding Archaeological Society (ERAS) to offer visitors guided tours of the historic parkland, hands-on geophysical sessions and artefact displays from local excavations.

Parkland Tour - departs daily from entrance to the hall at 2pm. The tours will take approximately 45 mins/1 hour and will be led by one of our expert guides. Please note the route is along gravel paths that may be uneven in places and is weather dependant. Free with normal admission charges.
