Details

The Guildhall / Stonebow date back to 1520 and is on the site of the Roman southern gateway. The Guildhall is the official 'home' of the Mayor and houses the City's fine collection of insignia displayed in the old debtors prison.

You can visit Lincoln's historic Guildhall and view the City's fine collection of insignia including the King Richard II sword, the Mayor's staff and mace, thumb ring plus many other treasures, at 10.30am and 1.30pm every Friday and Saturday. At other times tours may be booked for individuals or for groups.

The Guildhall is a historic building and accessibility for some people may not be practicable. Please note that there are steps to gain entry to view the Civic Insignia, there are two flights of stairs to the upper floor and as the building is almost 500 years old the floor is uneven in places.
