Weston Park Summary

Weston Park Description

Royalty, politics and tragedy all feature throughout Weston Park's rich history. The House was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in the 11th century. However, Weston owes much of its unique charm to the vision of Lady Wilbraham who directed the building of the present House in 1671. The sheer beauty of the landscaped gardens (which later so captivated Disraeli) is the work of the famous Capability Brown in the 18th century.

Over the years Weston has played host to many distinguished guests including King George V's daughter Mary, the Princess Royal, who spent part of her honeymoon amid its gracious surroundings.

Weston is the ancestral seat of the Earls of Bradford and is now held in trust for the nation by The Weston Park Foundation.

"The G8 Summit Retreat at Weston Park proved a delight. The Heads were struck by the beauty and charm of the house and grounds." Prime Minister Tony Blair, 16th May 1998.

The House

It is a testament to the excellence of Weston Park that it was chosen by Prime Minister Tony Blair for the Retreat Day for the G8 Summit of World Leaders in May 1998. Indeed it is the choice of politicians and business leaders, who are constantly delighted by the beauty of the House.

This Stately Home bears the hallmarks of the generations of the Earls of Bradford who lived at Weston Park from the 17th Century. It is still very much a home although it is now held in trust for the nation and run as a Charitable Foundation. Weston Park is unrivalled in its authenticity because it still houses priceless treasures and collections of fine art that are the envy of even the world's most reputable museums.

It is this authentic nature, coupled with automatic exclusivity that puts Weston Park in a league of its own. Though it is indisputably impressive you will not be overawed, as the welcoming aura of the house is complemented by the conscientious and professional service that makes a stay at Weston Park a memorable event. Your Reviews of Weston Park

Stacey Millard (22 June 2011)

Without question Britain's finest stately home. An outstanding art collection which can be experienced on a one-to-one basis when you stay in the house or visit as a day visitor during season (HHA Friends and Members FREE). This place understands hospitality in its truest sense and appeals to all ages and backgrounds. Superb restaurant and gallery in the Granary which is open all year round and is FREE.

Elena M. Chover (02 December 2006)

A splendid English house. The house has very different architecture, especially its great main front. The house contains fine furniture, portraits and ceramics, extensive gardens and orangery, obelisks and statues. It is a fine example of the restoration style.
