Wordsworth House Description

The Georgian town house where William Wordsworth was born in 1770. Several rooms contain some of the poet’s personal effects. His childhood garden with terraced walk, attractively restored, has views over the River Derwent, referred to in The Prelude.

Opening Times - 2012

House, Garden & Cafe:

  • 10th March - 4th November: Saturday - Thursday, 11 am - 5 pm (last entry at 4 pm)

Shop:

  • 4th - 14th January: Thursday - Saturday, 10 am - 4 pm
  • 10th March - 4th November: Daily, 10 am - 5 pm
  • 5th November - 22nd December: Monday - Saturday, 10 am - 4.30 pm
